Adam B. Cohen, M.D.
Biography
Dr. Adam Cohen is Board Certified in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Washington University in St. Louis and earned his Medical Degree at New York Medical College, where he received AOA Academic Honors and the Trustee Merit Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
Dr. Cohen completed his orthopedic residency in Manhattan at the St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Department of Orthopedics. Following his residency Dr. Cohen completed a Knee and Sports Medicine Research Fellowship in San Diego, California.
After completion of his fellowship he returned to practice in Manhattan and earned an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Columbia University from 2004-2014, and served as the Assistant Team Physician for the New York Yankees from 2004-2008. He also served as a consultant for the US Open Tennis Championships and provided orthopedic coverage for the New York City Ballet.
Currently, Dr. Cohen is the Director of Sports Medicine at OrthoManhattan and serves as the Team Physician for Horace Mann Athletics. He holds academic appointments at the NYU Langone Health System and the Mount Sinai Heath System.
Dr. Cohen has been recognized as a Castle-Connolly Top Doctor since 2015 and has been selected to appear in New York Magazine’s Top Doctor issue in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. He also received the Mount Sinai Orthopedic Residency “Teacher of the Year” honors in 2017.
Dr. Cohen has advanced training and expertise in sports medicine injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He has extensive experience in arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery and advanced reconstructive procedures, including shoulder and knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Cohen lives in Westchester with his wife Margo, their three children Lily, Maya and Lincoln, and their dog Miles.
